Heat in Grain Silo Near Downtown Fort Worth Causing Alarm

The temperature inside a grain silo near downtown Fort Worth caused alarm Tuesday afternoon, Fort Worth fire officials said.

The contents of the five-story grain elevator heated up for an unknown reason, the fire department said. Crews moved the grain, which relieved the problem.

The silo, which is managed by Purina Brands and is an active feed manufacturing facility, is located in the 1500 block of East Fourth Street, northeast of downtown Fort Worth.

The fire department will leave units to monitor the silo for a while.
