Heat Advisory: Hot Fourth of July On Tap, North Texans Prepare

A Heat Advisory is in effect across the North Texas for the Fourth of July, and those preparing to celebrate are taking precautions.

In Fort Worth, Fort Worth's Fourth, an annual event showcasing the largest fireworks display in North Texas, is ready to help people beat the heat. The event is sponsored by NBC 5.

Free tubes and life vests will be offered so revelers can lounge in the cooling waters of the Trinity River.

Two hydration stations will be offered where people can fill up water bottles for free, one on both the north and south side of the river.

Plus, a new addition this year means people can walk through a misting tent equipped with cooling fans. In addition, first aid tents will be available to those in need.

Thousands of people are expected, but hundreds of officers have been assigned to the event to help keep traffic moving.

Gates open at 2:00 p.m. and fireworks begin at 10:00 p.m. The event is free, but food and drink will be for sale.
