Woman, 76, Robbed, Assaulted: Fort Worth Police

An armed man attacked and robbed a 76-year-old grandmother in Fort Worth on Thursday, shoving her to the ground, knocking out some of her teeth and breaking her hand, police say.

Lupe Ortega, 76, only had $11 in her purse when a man with a gun yanked her purse off her shoulder and pushed her to the ground as she left the Elrod's Cost Plus store in the 1500 block of Northwest 25th Street

Ortega had three teeth knocked out, suffered a broken hand and had to have her wedding ring cut off of her finger.

Police don't have any suspects yet. They are searching for her attacker, and say Ortega described him as about 5 feet, 11 inches tall, wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and carrying a backpack.

Ortega can't believe someone would terrorize her for so little money. "Right now, I fall asleep and I wake up thinking about it," she said. "Just scared."
