Grand Prairie Officer Dragged While Trying To Arrest Suspect

The Grand Prairie police department reported one of its own was dragged by a car a short distance while trying to arrest a theft suspect.

The department said the female officer suffered minor injuries. A suspect was arrested but their name has not been released.

GPPD said it happened around 6:30 p.m. Sunday after officers responded to a theft call at the Kohl's Department Store at 3865 South Carrier.

As officers arrived, the department said the suspect left the store and jumped into her vehicle. The suspect reportedly put the car in drive as the officer tried to make an arrest.

The officer was dragged a short distance through the parking lot.

Once she was freed from the car, other officers chased the suspect's vehicle into Dallas where she was apprehended.

The injured officer was driven to the hospital where doctors checked her injuries.
