A grass fire that consumed up to 400 acres in Glenn Heights, south of DeSoto, and triggered evacuations Friday afternoon is contained, city officials say.
The update came at about 8 p.m., more than four hours after the fire was first reported.
Homes along three streets -- Mesa Wood Drive, Water Crest Lane and Craddock Lane -- were evacuated, Glenn Heights City Manager David Hall said. Hall clarified an earlier statement from the city that said three neighborhoods were evacuated.
The fire is believed to have started just before 3:30 p.m. and burned through a field near the Lin Dell Estates and Mesa addition.

From Texas Sky Ranger, some residents were seen trying to hold off the fire with garden hoses and buckets of water.

"It was v terrifying. Very very scary," said Alma Cleto, who lives nearby.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
"They're not sure yet, they're investigating, got some idea but I will say this, we know it wasn't a lawn mower," Hall said.
It was a lawn mower that sparked a grass fire that destroyed nine homes in Balch Springs on Monday, a reason Hall says so many departments responded so quickly to the fire Friday
"Cities from as far north as Dallas to as far south as Ennis, everywhere in between," Hall said.
