Girlfriend of Frisco Shooting Victim Speaks Out

A Frisco man is now out of the hospital, after being shot over the weekend at the Shops at Starwood

The girlfriend of a man shot at a Frisco shopping center parking lot is setting the record straight about reports of a stranger intervening in the couple's argument.

Cindy Davis of Frisco says she and her boyfriend were driving home at about 1 a.m. Saturday after a date at the theatre.

She said the two started bickering, so they pulled over at The Shops at Starwood to sort out their differences without bothering her teenage daughter, who was waiting for her mother at home.

Davis says they were in the parking lot for about 10 minutes until they got out of the SUV.

It was then, she says, that they were approached by a total stranger, Christopher Ducret of Plano, a man police arrested on the scene and later charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

“The next thing I knew, I was looking at a guy with a gun pointed at us,” Davis said. “The bullets – he just kept shooting. It was really frightening.”

Davis’ boyfriend was shot in the chest, damaging his lung. He was taken to Medical Center of Plano where he was listed in stable condition.

He was released from the hospital on Monday, but the bullet is still lodged in his back.

While he recovers, Davis says she wants to set the record straight – after some reports surfaced that Ducret was trying to intervene in the couple’s disagreement.

She says Ducret never asked if she was OK or if she needed help, adding that she was the one who called 911.

“The shooter continued to hold the gun over us until the police pulled in,” Davis said. “He certainly didn’t help that night; he almost took someone’s life. He never tried to intervene, he never announced he had a gun.”

A lifelong conservative, Davis says the experience has changed her views, specifically those about handguns and concealed carry licenses.

“I do not believe people should be able to walk around with handguns and just be trusted that they’re going to abide by every rule, because that just wasn’t the case,” she said.

Ducret posted bond on Monday.

He denied a request for a jailhouse interview by NBC 5.
