Man Accused of Groping Girl, 13, on American Airlines Flight

A 13-year-old girl was assaulted on an American Airlines flight from North Texas to Oregon Wednesday, according to NBC News.

The girl's mother โ€” who asked to remain anonymous โ€” said her daughter was traveling as an unaccompanied minor on the flight from D/FW International Airport to Oregon.

A flight attendant reportedly saw the man sitting next to the girl โ€” 26-year-old Chad Cameron Camp โ€” touching her inappropriately, stepped in and stopped him.

Authorities were waiting on the ground when the jet arrived, and the FBI charged Camp with abusive sexual contact. He is expected in court Monday.

"We're angry at him, we're angry at the airlines, we're angry that this happened to our child," the girl's mother told NBC News. "It's sad for her that she has to go through this."

American Airlines released the following statement:

"American cares deeply about our young passengers and is committed to providing a safe and pleasant travel experience for them. We take these matters very seriously and have cooperated fully and immediately with law enforcement officials in their investigation of the suspect. Due to the pending criminal case against the suspect, we are referring all questions to law enforcement."
