George W. Bush, Laura Bush Select Cemetery in Austin for Final Resting Place

Former President George W. Bush has decided he will be buried at the Texas State Cemetery in East Austin, breaking from tradition shared among those who've served in the nation's highest office.

Freddy Ford, a spokesperson for George W. Bush and his wife Laura Bush, confirmed the decision about the future graves to The Austin American-Statesman.

U.S. presidents are typically buried at their respective presidential libraries. With the exception of Lyndon B. Johnson, all presidents who have died since John F. Kennedy are buried at their presidential libraries.

“President Bush would just like to point out one thing: This doesn’t mean he already has one foot in the grave,” Ford said in the report.

Bush will be the first president buried at the Texas State Cemetery.
