Georgetown Rep. Dan Gattis is the 12th candidate to declare he'll seek to unseat Republican House Speaker Tom Craddick next month.
Gattis told the Austin American-Statesman on Sunday his intentions to challenge Craddick, who is seeking a fourth term as speaker after a raucous effort to overthrow him during last year's session.
Gattis, a Republican, had been a Craddick loyalist. The 150-member chamber will elect a speaker to a two-year term when they convene on Jan. 13.
Republicans have a slim 76-74 majority in the House.
