Retail gasoline prices across Texas continue to tumble, settling this week at $1.87 per gallon.
AAA Texas on Thursday reported the average price at the pump fell 8 cents from last week. The price per gallon is now $1.24 less than a year ago.
The national average stands at $2.08.
Of the metro regions in Texas, drivers in Corpus Christi are paying the most at $1.95 per gallon while motorists in Amarillo and Fort Worth are paying the least at $1.79.
Gas prices are at their lowest levels since May 2009.
AAA says it expects national and statewide average prices for unleaded gasoline to remain below $3 per gallon through 2015.
