Gas Prices Fall Below $2 in N. Texas

AAA Texas expects gas prices will stay low throughout winter

North Texas has some of the cheapest gas in the country as the price of gas dropped below $2 a gallon at stations in many area suburbs.

It was a $1.95 at a Kroger gas station in Denton, and was even cheaper for loyal customers. The station was packed well into the night.

The cheap gas is a welcome relief after a summer marked by skyrocketing costs, drivers said.

Even with OPEC cutting production and Tuesday's election, AAA Texas expects gas prices will stay low throughout the winter months.

Over the summer, it cost $50 to $60 to fill up. Now it costs $25.
