Gas Prices Expected to Soar in 2017

Last year saw the cheapest prices for regular unleaded gas since 2012, but prices are expected to soar in 2017.

According to Gas Buddy, drivers in the U.S. will pay a combined $25 billion more at the pump this year.

Part of the reason for the increase is that oil producers have cut production in response to last year's low prices.

While it's unclear how high prices will go in North Texas, Gas Buddy said Seattle, Los Angeles, New York City, Washington D.C. and Chicago are expected to see an average of $3 per gallon first.

Despite the increase, many drivers said they likely won't change their driving habits.

"I have no choice," said commuter Lisa Leckey. "I have to work where I work."
