Garth Brooks Promises Better Shows Than He Did in the 90s

Country music superstars Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood spoke to the media Thursday afternoon before kicking off the first of more than a half dozen shows at the American Airlines Center.

Brooks promised this series of concerts would be better than the legendary shows performed in North Texas nearly two decades ago.

"We didn't come here to do the second best Garth show you've ever seen," Brooks said.

Brooks and Yearwood fielded questions from the media for nearly a half hour on the tour, their careers and their personal lives.

During the discussion, Brooks added that one of his favorite aspects of touring is hearing the audience sing his songs for him.

"We want to hear those voices. I know this is a smart ass thing to say, but I promise you it's 100 percent honest and humble. You have no idea how far I travel to hear you sing. I come here to hear people sing, that's my favorite thing," Brooks said.

Brooks will perform seven shows in five days at the arena, beginning Thursday night.
