Garth Brooks Adds More Dallas Show Dates, Sets Ticket Record

Brooks breaks his own Dallas record, selling more than 100,000 tickets Friday

Country music superstar Garth Brooks has broken his own Dallas record, selling 100,000 tickets to seven shows scheduled for this September in just under two hours.

Last week Brooks announced he'd play two shows in Dallas this September on the North Texas leg of his World Tour.

Friday morning, as tickets for those two shows went on sale, two more shows were announced.  Then another two, followed by another.

Brooks will now play seven dates at Dallas' American Airlines Center this fall, beginning on Sept. 17.

Tickets cost about $75 each for all shows and are limited to eight per purchase. Significantly more expensive VIP packages are also available.

Representatives for Brooks said fans purchased 100,000 tickets to the seven shows in the first two hours they were available Friday morning. At roughly $75 each, that's about $7.5 million in ticket sales.

The number of tickets sold easily breaks Brooks' old Dallas record of 50,213 tickets sold for a three-show engagement at Reunion Arena Feb. 13-15, 1998.

While officials have not said how many tickets are available, American Airlines Center can hold roughly 18,500 people -- that leaves an estimated 29,500 tickets available as of this writing.

Last fall, Brooks released his first studio album in 13 years -- Man Against Machine -- since his retirement in October 2000. The album has been certified platinum making him once again the No. 1 selling solo artist in U.S. history.
