A police chase through Garland ended with a fatal crash early Tuesday morning, police say.
Garland police spokesman Pedro Barineau said at about 3:15 a.m., an officer tried to pull over a vehicle at Shiloh Road and Forest Lane for not having a rear license plate.
When questioned about his identity, the driver sped away from the officer. He continued south on Shiloh Road, at times reaching speeds up to 100 mph, police said.

Minutes later the driver, who was not identified, lost control and crashed into a pole outside an adult entertainment store at the intersection of Northwest Highway and Shiloh Road.
The driver was ejected from the vehicle and died at the scene, police said.
Police added that it appeared a gun reported as stolen was recovered from the vehicle.
