Fort Worth Mayor Helps with Wedding Proposal

No doubt that several women in North Texas will go back to work today with an engagement to announce -- and one of those wedding proposals needed the help of Fort Worth Mayor Betsy Price.

It happened Saturday night at The Party in Fort Worth, an annual event that benefits the Fort Worth Promotion and Development Fund. As Price greeted the packed house at the Fort Worth Convention Center, she turned the microphone and podium over to Eryck Walker.

With a thousand people watching, Walker proposed to girlfriend Trikinya Johnson. She had no clue it was happening, but the mayor was fully in on the secret proposal.

Walker and Johnson met at City Hall two years ago. Walker said he knew right away he wanted to ask Johnson for a date. A week later, the date happened and they've been together since.

Walker said Saturday night was the perfect time and place for him to propose with everyone dressed up in 1920s-era swanky fabulous.

Valentine's Day is Walker's favorite time of the year, he is perfectly comfortable in front of a crowd and  he must have been confident of the answer -- Johnson said yes.
