Fund Established for Waxahachie Explosion Victims

The family of Adele Chavez and her brother Jaymie Rodriguez, released a statement Wednesday thanking those who've been praying for them as they recover from burns sustained when their home exploded Monday morning.

"On behalf of Adele Chavez and her brother Jaime Rodriguez and the entire family, thank you to everyone for all the love that has been shown and all the prayers that have been prayed. They are so deeply grateful for the neighbors who quickly came to their rescue, prayed with them and helped them. Their love goes out to each of you. Thank you to all of the first responders, the police officers, firefighters, EMS, Care Flight, Parkland Hospital nurses, doctors, and ER workers. The family will never forget your professionalism and kindness at the time of their greatest need. Each of them thanks you from the bottom of their heart."

The family also said Chavez underwent surgery Tuesday night and is currently recovering in the ICU. Rodriguez, they said, is doing better but both will have extensive rehabilitation to recover from their burns.

A fund to help both Chavez and Rodriguez has been established at Citizens National Bank of Texas in Ennis. Those who wish to contribute can do so at any of Citizens National Bank of Texas' 10 locations by making a direct deposit under the name of Adele Chavez.
