Arrest Made in Hit and Run Death of ‘Mayor of Deep Ellum'

Police have arrested a woman in relation to the hit and run that killed a Deep Ellum bartender in late May.

Jessica Pratt, 26, was arrested Monday in connection to the fatal incident on May 19 involving Ian Brooks, according to the Dallas Police Department.

Brooks left the bar Brick & Bones in Deep Ellum, where he was the general manager, on his motorcycle early in the morning of May 19 after his Friday night shift. Brooks' girlfriend Brandy Alexander said he called her shortly after 3 a.m. to let her know he was hitting the road soon. He never made it to their Richardson home.

Dallas Police said an unknown vehicle rear-ended the motorcycle in the left middle lane on northbound Highway 75. The wreck happened just before 3:40 a.m. The rider was thrown from the bike and killed. The other vehicle's driver didn't stop.

Friends said he never forgot a face, name or cocktail order.

"It's such a devastating blow," owner Cliff Edgar told NBC 5 after the accident. "There's so many people grieving right now, it’s such a loss we don’t know how to make sense of it."

NBC 5's Chris Blake contributed to this report.
