Family and friends gather at Northway Christian Church in Dallas to remember Richard Durrett, a veteran reporter who covered Dallas-area sports for ESPN. Durrett died Tuesday at the age of 38.
Durrett covered the Rangers and other teams for ESPN Dallas for the last five years. He worked at the Dallas Morning News before joining ESPN.
Patrick Stiegman, vice president and editorial director for ESPN Digital & Print Media, called Durrett "a dedicated colleague and friend."
The Rangers offered their condolences in a statement. The team said Durrett covered the organization "with professionalism and integrity."
Durrett's survivors include his wife, Kelly, and two children.

All donations made through the Rangers Foundation in his memory will be directed to the Richard Durrett Family Fund.
Goodfriend Beer Garden and Burger House has also set up a fundraiser event for Durrett on Saturday, June 28 at the east Dallas location. They will collect donations for the Durrett family and hold a silent auction. A Facebook page has been created for the event.
