Fort Worth Student Wins Iron Chef Competition & Scholarship

One day you may be eating Alexis Flores' creations in a fancy restaurant.

The South Hills High School senior and culinary arts student won the inaugural Mission Restaurant Supply Iron Chef Challenge on Saturday.

Flores will receive a $4500 college scholarship as a result of winning, according to the Fort Worth ISD.

The event in the Fort Worth Stockyards also included students chefs from North Side High School, Trimble Tech High School, Poly High School and OD Wyatt High School. All of the schools are in the Fort Worth ISD.

NBC 5 Today anchor Deborah Ferguson emceed the program with Michael Thompson, owner of Michael's restaurant.

Flores is the president of her high school culinary club. He instructor is Chef Jeff Glick, according the distict.
