Police shooting on Westgate Drive

Department officials confirmed to NBC 5 that officers were called to a domestic disturbance at a home in the 5800 block of Westgate Drive at about 4:22 a.m. on Jan. 15. Police said the caller opened the home's front door but was having difficulty opening a second metal screen door. Police said officers could see a man inside the house with a knife in his hand "acting aggressively toward other occupants" and forced their way into the back of the home. As the officers breached the door, police said the man exited with a knife in each hand and charged at police officers, who opened fire and fatally shot him. After telling him to drop the knives several times, police said officers provided first aid. The man, who was identified as 28-year-old Brandon Adame by police, died at the home. There were no other injuries reported.

Police shooting on John T. White Road

According to police, several people called 911 just before noon Wednesday to report a man armed with at least one gun standing outside the leasing office of an apartment complex on the 8500 block of John T. White Road. Callers said they feared for their safety, and at least one person said the man pointed a gun at him. When police officers arrived, they said they saw a man in the parking lot, later identified as 42-year-old Deron Morris, pull a gun out of his waistband and then put it back. Police said an officer pulled out her gun and gave the man "commands" but that he didn't comply. Police said Morris walked toward the officer and bystanders with the gun in his waistband and still ignored the officer's commands. Police said he stopped walking, reached into his waistband, and turned to look at the officer. The officer then fired her weapon at him multiple times, but he was not struck. Police said Morris then started running, lost his handgun from his waistband along the way, and barricaded himself in an apartment. Fort Worth police said officers set up a perimeter around the building, and Morris was later taken into custody. Two guns were recovered, and no injuries were reported. The officer was placed on significant event leave after the shooting and has since returned to work. Morris remains in the Tarrant County Jail on a $100,000 bond. He is charged with five counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and one count of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon against a public servant. It's unclear if Morris has obtained an attorney to speak on his behalf.

Criminal and administrative investigations into both incidents are ongoing.
