Fort Worth police will hold an open forum Thursday evening to give residents a chance to meet the six finalists vying to become the department's next chief.
Two of the finalists — Kenneth Dean and Abdul Pridgen — are currently assistant chiefs with the Fort Worth Police Department. The other four — Jose Banales, Joel Fitzgerald, Anne Kirkpatrick and Kirk Munden — are from outside North Texas.
"We are very pleased with the group of finalists and look forward to the process," City Manager David Cooke said.
The candidates — each with more than two decades of law enforcement experience — are looking to replace Jeff Halstead, who abruptly retired in January. The department hasn't had a permanent chief since.
Fort Worth police asked the public to attend the forum from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Bob Bolen Public Safety Complex. Candidates will answer questions, many submitted online by citizens.
