Fort Worth Bank Robbery Suspect Admits He Did It in Jailhouse Interview

In a jailhouse interview the man suspected of robbing the Frost Bank in Downtown Fort Worth on Feb. 12 admits he did it and says he regrets it.

"I regret it so much, I regret it. To the people that was there, that had to go through what they went through, I'm very regretful for the whole situation," said Dee Ingram.

Ingram, 54, said in a jailhouse interview Tuesday that he had been off his mental health medications for months and that he heard voices in his head that drove him to do something he never thought he would ever do in his life.

While Ingram admits to robbing the bank, he denies ever waving the airsoft pistol found on him when he was arrested.

Ingram triggered a manhunt in Fort Worth after he allegedly pulled out a gun and demanded cash from a teller at the Frost Bank at 777 Main Street Thursday afternoon, according to police.

The teller gave him an undisclosed amount of money and police say he ordered all the employees to go into a back bathroom.

Detectives received a Crime Stoppers tip that Ingram may have kidnapped a woman. Police said he was referenced in earlier tips as being the robbery suspect and was found with a woman at the Valley View Motel at 5200 Mansfield Highway.

Zero Tolerance Officers arrested Ingram Saturday morning in a nearby gas station without any shots fired.

Ingram is charged with aggravated robbery and aggravated kidnapping after he confessed to both crimes. The airsoft pistol, reportedly used in both offenses was also recovered.

No injuries were reported in either the robbery or arrest, but the woman held hostage, identified later as Ingram's ex-girlfriend, was taken to a nearby hospital as a precaution.

In the jailhouse interview, Ingram denies holding the woman hostage and called it a misunderstanding.

"I don't feel like I kidnapped her, I know for a fact that I did not kidnap her," Ingram said.

Ingram remained in the Mansfield Jail Tuesday afternoon on $500,000 bond.
