A former South Texas firefighter has been sentenced to 15 years in prison for producing child pornography using a 16-year-old girl.
Justin Ryan Serna was sentenced Tuesday by a federal judge in Corpus Christi. The 28-year-old Serna in October pleaded guilty to sexual exploitation of a child.
Serna was a Corpus Christi firefighter when he was arrested last year after sexually explicit photos of a girl turned up on his notebook computer. Serna was placed on administrative leave and later resigned.
Investigators said many communications between Serna the girl happened while he was a firefighter.
Serna apologized in court in a case involving him asking for and receiving sexually explicit images from the teen.
