Former Garland soccer coach Bernardo Mondragon-Guzman has been sentenced to prison for sexually assaulting two boys he used to coach.
Mondragon-Guzman plead guilty Tuesday afternoon to one charge of continuous sexual abuse of a child and two counts of indecency with a child. A court official said Wednesday that he will receive 35 years for the sexual abuse charge and 20 years in prison for each of the indecency counts. He will serve 35 years with no chance of parole, a Dallas County official said.
According to arrest affidavits, Mondragon-Guzman would tell the mother of one of the victims that he was taking her son to the store. Instead, Mondragon-Guzman would take the boy to his Garland house, where he had sex with him.
The victim told police it happened "four or five times." He was also able to provide a detailed description of the inside of his coach's house and car, both locations where the alleged assaults took place.
Separate affidavits said the other victim told investigators that Mondragon-Guzman would promise to buy him things he needed for soccer and then abuse him. The documents also indicated that Mondragon-Guzman would show the boy pictures of naked people.
