Former Dallas Cowboys Join Trinity Groves Team

Former Dallas Cowboys Roger Staubach and Robert Shaw are now on the team of developers at the Trinity Groves project in West Dallas.

Right now, Trinity Groves is a restaurant attraction at the base of the Margaret Hunt Hill Bridge on Singleton Boulevard.

Staubach and Shaw said Wednesday they will help add 1,000 apartments to the project in mixed use buildings with retail on the ground level.

"It's part of growth going south and I know it will be successful, it will be done right and I am very proud to be part of the project," Staubach said.

Staubach and Shaw said they have done similar development projects over the years in Uptown Dallas, Plano and Addison.

The city of Dallas has pledged to help provide streets and other support for Trinity Groves expansion.

Mayor Mike Rawlings has been promoting a Grow South strategy to boost that side of the Trinity River.

"This whole movement is happening and it's great to see our city stronger," Rawling said. "There's nobody I would rather do it with than two ex Dallas Cowboys."

Shaw said the developers hope to break ground on the new Trinity Groves apartments by the end of 2014.
