Florida Man Admits to Role in Drug Conspiracy

A Florida man has pleaded guilty to his role in a conspiracy to move cocaine and marijuana from Florida to Texas by way of South Mississippi.

Federal prosecutors said in a news release that Herman McGee Jr., of Jacksonville, Florida, pleaded guilty Thursday to conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute over 500 grams of cocaine and conspiracy to possess a firearm in furtherance of drug trafficking.

McGee will be sentenced Sept. 30. He faces 40 years for conspiracy and 20 years for the firearms charge.

McGee was one of four people indicted in the case. The three others have also pleaded guilty to various charges. All are awaiting sentencing.

McGee, Simmons and Holland were arrested after a Jan. 9 traffic stop in Harrison County. Ricks was arrested later in Jacksonville.
