‘Fix It Plano' App Allows Residents to Report Problems

Reporting problems in Plano is as easy as picking up your phone. But at least one person didn't get the message.

Instead, they tried to get action by spray painting profanities around potholes on Cross Bend Road.

Kelly Moreno can see the graffiti from her front door. She noticed it last week.

"Not very nice terms," she said. "Not something you would want kids seeing, and it's a school so there's a lot of kids that run and play in this area."

The city of Plano said there is a better way to get results by reporting the problem through the "Fix It Plano" app.

The app allows users to send the city information as well as pictures of a range of problems. The app is free to download.

The reports are then sent to the specific department that can address the problem.

Steve Stoler, director of media relations for Plano, said water restriction violations are the most common report. Potholes are second.

"Because we have such a volume of potholes that need to be fixed it's going to be a little bit slower, but usually within a matter of days the pothole will be fixed," Stoler said.

The potholes along Cross Bend Road have all been filled in, but they're still surprising drivers for a different reason.

Stoler said the city averages 150 reports a week and has received more than 21,000 since "Fix It Plano" started in 2011.

Residents can also submit requests online.
