Rains earlier this week have helped Lake Conroe reach its full capacity for the first time in four years.
The San Jacinto River Authority's general manager, Jace Houston, tells The Courier of Montgomery County the water elevation of the lake north of Houston reached 201 feet above mean sea level on Tuesday morning.
The last time the lake reached that mark was April 25, 2010. In 2011, the Texas drought had left it down by 8 feet.
So far this year, rainfall at the lake dam is 12.7 inches. That's nearly 6 inches below normal. But Houston says it's a huge benefit to begin the summer with a full lake.
Lake Conroe was built in the 1970s, covers 21,000 acres and extends 21 miles through Montgomery and Walker counties.
