Firefighters in Garland have contained a one-alarm fire on the 1200 block of Merrimac Trail.
When firefighters arrived, they reported heavy smoke coming from the one-story brick home.
As they approached the inside of the home to fight the blaze, they said they encountered a woman who told them to leave.
The firefighters retreated and called police.
Soon after, police say the woman came out and was taken to a hospital to be checked out.
She made statements leading officers to believe someone else was still inside the house.
Police later entered the home, but no one else was found.
