Firefighters Battle Large House Fire in Dallas

Dallas-Fire Rescue continues to investigate what caused a massive three-alarm house fire in Dallas.

The fire was reported in the 1800 block of North Buckner Boulevard. The home was the former church of Scientology. It is now owned by Dave Anderson who told NBC 5 that no one was living in the home. It was in process of a remodel.

Firefighters originally responded to black smoke rising from the roof of a large two-story vacant home, said Jason Evans with the Dallas Fire-Rescue Department.

The fire soon reached a three-alarm response.

Evans said the roof was made a material that was not only keeping the fire inside the structure, but slowing the ability of firefighters to put water on it from above.

There were no reported injuries or damage to neighboring homes at this time.

Neighbor Vince Wilson said some of the items inside the home were irreplacable.

"The house really had a lot of culture and tradition to it," Wilson said. "There's a lot of architecture inside, Corinthian columns, it was just a beautiful house."

NBC 5's Eric King contributed to this report.
