Fire Guts Dallas Taco Bar

Nearby Ravenna Italian Restaurant damaged by smoke

Clean up is under way after an early morning fire ripped through a popular downtown eatery in the 1300 block of Main Street in downtown Dallas.

Dallas Fire-Rescue said it received the call for a fire at Sabor: A Taco Joint at about 3:30 a.m.

The taco bar is on the first floor of the Davis Building, more than two dozen firefighters put out the fire.

No one was hurt in the fire, there weren't any tenants above the restaurant, but people next door were briefly evacuated.

Sabor was heavily damaged by fire and smoke and is now boarded up. No word how long it will take to restore the restaurant.

Firefighters said they had to break the glass door at Ravenna Italian Restaurant and Bar next door to ensure the fire didn't spread to that businesses.

Ravenna's owner said his restaurant will replace the doors and clean up from the smoke, though he wasn't sure how long it would take.
