FedEx Preparing to Open Plano Headquarters

Another major company is about to open its corporate headquarters in Plano.

This fall, FedEx Office will relocate to Legacy Drive. The company is combining its south Plano and Galleria location into the 265,000-square-foot facility.

Approximately 1,200 employees will now work under one roof.

"The efficiencies will be better. We'll be able to collaborate better and we'll be able to produce a better product for our managers out in the field," said Ari Spitzer, vice president of real estate and development.

The battle for business is big in Collin County.

With Frisco and McKinney booming, Plano city leaders are fighting back. Construction is now underway on headquarters for Toyota and Liberty Mutual Insurance.

"Plano is truly experiencing a renaissance," Plano Mayor LaRosiliere said.

LaRosiliere said the growth translates to Plano having the lowest property tax rate in the Metroplex.

"That's because a significant part of our revenue comes from corporate residents who do not put as much of a strain on our infrastructure and city services," he said.

LaRosiliere said the biggest challenge is managing the growth.

About 12,000 new jobs will be added as a result of the corporate relocations in the next few years.
