FC Dallas Star Hopes to Win With Team USA

The Road to Rio once again passes through Toyota Stadium in Frisco as the U.S. Men's under-23 National Team tries to earn a spot at this summer's Olympic games in Brazil.

Kellyn Acosta is no stranger to pressure. He has been a part of the FC Dallas team since he was a young teenager and he is embracing being a member of Team USA.

"We are all excited, ready to go and represent, and hopefully get the results we need to advance," said Acosta.

Acosta is a home-grown Texan. He grew up in Collin County and now calls Plano home.

"Coming here, in front of our fans, it's a big opportunity for all of us to showcase ourselves and prove our worth," said Acosta

He is ready for whatever comes his way -- a consummate team player focused on the immediate goal.

"I'm glad to play whatever position the team needs me, make the most of it and give it 100 percent," said Acosta.

He knows the pressure is on. The U.S. men came up short in 2012 and never even made it to the London Olympics. This time around, it's a win or go home as Team USA faces Columbia for a second time in a week at Toyota Stadium on Tuesday night.

"It's a tough game, but I think we can do it," said Acosta.

FC Dallas does have Olympic experience, another familiar face from the team played for the U.S. in the Beijing Olympic games.

"Probably goes down as the best sporting event I've ever been to," said Chris Seitz, goalkeeper for F.C. Dallas.

Seitz said he will never forget that experience.

"It's by far the most special thing I have done, professionally," said Seitz.

It is motivation for teammates like Acosta, who's now just one game away from earning a trip to Rio.

"It's something I have always dreamed of, the Olympics," said Acosta. "I know we fell a little bit short the last Olympics, just a feeling of excitement and joy, pride to wear the crest out there and represent my country."
