FC Dallas Defeats Philadelphia 2-0 in Home Opener

FC Dallas beat Philadelphia Union 2-0 in their 2016 season opener on Sunday at Toyota Stadium. Fabian Castillo scored Dallas’ first goal of the game in the 22nd minute, with an assist from Mauro Diaz.

Diaz saw Castillo making a run for it and passed the ball forward. Castillo picked up the ball and shot from 17 yards out, the ball sliding underneath the Union goalkeeper’s, Andre Blake’s, arm and into the goal, giving Dallas a 1-0 lead.

Diaz picked up his second assist of the game when he passed to Maximiliano Urruti. Urruti shot the ball and hit the bottom of the crossbar bouncing into the goal, making the score 2-0 in the 79th minute of the game.

The two-assist match was the fourth of Diaz’s Major League Soccer career.
