Clifton Norton, a father of five, was shot and killed around 11 p.m. Sunday on Wahoo Street in South Dallas.

"So loved, I'm telling you, my heart is broken," Norton's older sister Antoinette Norton said.

According to police, neighbors reported hearing gunfire in the 4600 block of Wahoo Street. On Monday, the block was filled with his grieving friends and family.

The 33-year-old had just picked up his 8-year-old son, Kar-dia, from his other sister's house. The pair was about to head home when someone opened fire on their car. Norton had only driven feet before he turned around for help.

Responding officers found Norton, next to a car with its front windows shattered. His son was in the front seat..

Norton's mother, Mary Davis, said he was shot in the neck and died at the hospital. Her grandson was taken to Children's Medical Center.

“He was shot in his left leg and the bullet is still in there and they're still trying to find out where's the bullet located in his body right now," Davis said.

The heartbroken family is focused on the young boy's recovery and their search for peace.

"I do want whoever did this to turn themself in so we can have closure," Antoinette Norton said.
