A 24-year-old woman is dead Friday morning after a car accident, according to the Denton Police Department.
Denton police said they received a call at 1:10 a.m. on May 27 about an unconscious driver on FM 2449 west of Underwood Road. When officers arrived, the driver of the vehicle was deceased.
Police believe a 2004 Ford Focus was traveling west bound on FM 2449 when the driver lost control as she was passing Underwood Road. The focus left the roadway on the south side of 2449, slid through a ditch and eventually struck a tree coming to a stop there.
The roadway was closed while first repsonders were on the scene, but have reopened as of 5:04 a.m.

According to police, the cause of the accident is said to be an unsafe speed and wet pavement, but investigations are still underway.
The identity of the victim has not been released.
