Fans Camp Out for One Direction

Fans ready for first-come-first-served seating at Dr Pepper Ballpark

Fans of One Direction are camping out in front of Dr Pepper Ballpark for a chance at the best seats for Saturday's performance.

"This is a once-in-a-lifetime thing to have this experience," fan Harleigh Nunez said.

The 15-year-old and her mother Susan Nunez traveled seven hours from Louisiana for the British boy band's general admission show.

"We're not prepared, but one of us is going to hit Target and get us prepared," Susan Nunez said.

One Direction will be on stage for less than 45 minutes to perform four songs.

Harleigh Nunez said she follows the band on Twitter and has a wall of pictures at home in their honor.

"I have four copies of their album," she said. "My computer has a folder that's just full of pictures."

The band's growing popularity has been evident over the past several weeks.

One Direction's first album, "Up All Night," debuted at No. 1 on the latest Billboard Top 200 albums chart. The band is first British act to debut at the top of the Billboard album chart with a first album.

Last week, about 2,000 fans swarmed Stonebriar Centre Mall for wristbands to the autograph session and short performance scheduled for Saturday. One teenager was taken to the hospital, and others sustained minor injuries.

Saturday's event was then moved from Stonebriar Centre to Dr Pepper Ballpark, which is arguably better equipped to accommodate thousands of fans. About 9,000 fans are expected to attend the show.

Frisco police said they will have a presence at the show, bringing in at least 20 officers for crowd control.

Susan Nunez said she wanted to be with her daughter for the show because she heard about videos of the rushing crowds at Stonebriar Centre Mall on March 13.

"[It's] why I'm here -- in case something happens," she said.

Tickets for the show are available by purchasing "Up All Night" at the Barnes & Noble inside Stonebriar Centre. No tickets will be sold at the ballpark in advance or on the day of the show.

The show begins at 1 p.m. Saturday. Gates open at noon.

The 2,000 fans who got wristbands from the March 13 event at Stonebriar Centre will take part in an autograph session after the concert.

North Texas fans will get the opportunity to see a full One Direction show this summer. The boy band launches its U.S. tour in May and has a show scheduled at Gexa Energy Pavilion in Dallas on June 23.
