Two People Stabbed While Walking in Downtown Dallas: Police

Two men were stabbed in an attack near a downtown Dallas courthouse.

According to police, a family visiting from Indiana was crossing the street near the 600 block of Commerce Street Friday morning when Darrell J. Pope ran up and stabbed one of them. Another man tried to help and was also stabbed by Pope.

The family ran into the George L. Allen, Sr. Courts Building for help. Both victims are expected to be OK.

Pope, 39, fled to the DART West Transfer Station in the 900 block of San Jacinto Street and was detained by DART police officers.

Pope was charged with two counts of aggravated assault and his bond is set at $50,000. He remains in the Dallas County Jail.
