Families Seek Answers After Girls Missing 40 Years

Family and friends of three girls who vanished from a Fort Worth shopping center gathered Tuesday on the 40th anniversary of their disappearance.

It's been four decades since 9-year-old Julie Moseley, 14-year-old Lisa Renee Wilson and 17-year-old Rachel Trlica went Christmas shopping at Seminary South Mall, which is now La Gran Plaza, near Interstate 35W and Interstate 20. They were never seen again.

"If someone dies you go to a funeral, but when they are just gone, disappeared off the face of the earth basically, you know, that is hard to live with,” said Terry Moseley, Julie Moseley’s brother.

Loved ones went back to the plaza Tuesday and released birds and 40 yellow balloons.

“For three of them to disappear at one time, how does that happen,” said Janet Moseley Hensley, Julie Moseley’s sister.

For 40 years, their families have had so many questions and no answers. Still, they remain convinced the girls did not run away and that foul play is involved.

“It’s been horrible. It has torn my family apart,” said Rusty Arnold, Rachel Trlica’s brother.

“I can remember right away things like sitting at the house and the telephone would ring, and my mother would start screaming because she knew it was going to be bad news,” added Terry Moseley.

But as frustrating as it has been, they believe someone out there knows something.

“I want to say again whoever did this, we’re coming. We are not giving up,” said Arnold.

Fort Worth police said there are no updates in the case.
