Ex-San Antonio Teacher Accused of Sexual Assault

A former San Antonio-area teacher is being accused by police of sexually assaulting a student in his classroom.

The San Antonio Express-News reports Raymond Casillas has been charged with aggravated sexual assault of a child.

According to an arrest warrant affidavit, the 43-year-old Casillas was a middle school English teacher for the Southside Independent School District. Authorities allege that in December 2011, Casillas assaulted a student after inviting her to his classroom for lunch.

The affidavit says the girl, who was 13 at the time, came forward last month.

School district attorney Gary Inmon said Tuesday Casillas had worked at the district from 2007 to 2013 and that "he resigned his position for personal reasons."

Court records did not list an attorney for Casillas, who is free on bond.
