Ex-Officer Sought in Pregnant Woman's Death Detained in Indonesia

Indonesian authorities have detained a former Austin police officer who was being sought in the killing of a pregnant crime victims counselor.

Efforts are underway to return VonTrey Clark to the U.S. so that he can be questioned in the death of 29-year-old Samantha Dean, a Kyle police employee whose body was found Feb. 4.

The Austin American-Statesman and KVUE-TV jointly report that Clark had a romantic relationship with Dean. Court records indicate he fathered Dean's unborn child and wanted her to have an abortion.

He hasn't been charged with a crime and his attorney, Bristol C. Myers, says he was in Indonesia for a medical issue and wasn't involved in the woman's death.

Three others have been identified in records as conspiring with Clark in the killing.
