Ennis Bluebonnet Trails Festival This Weekend

Can't get enough of the state flower? Then it's worth the drive 30 miles south of Dallas on Interstate 45 to Ellis County.

Ennis the "Official Bluebonnet City" of Texas is home to some of the best and most abundant bluebonnets in the state, and this year is no different.

"Our Ennis Bluebonnets are looking beautiful, just in time for our festival," said Gina Rokas of the Ennis Convention and Visitors Bureau.

Bluebonnets in the Ennis area are expected to peak April 18-25.

There are 40-miles of driving trails and Highway 85 and FM 1181. Ennis reports the North Trail is  beautiful and the South Trail is showing nice blooms.

If you're no sure where to set up your totally Texas family portrait, Ennis' Convention and Visitors Bureau is more than happy to help with a map pointing to the most picturesque spots.

We've linked it here, but you can also pick one up at the Ennis CVB.

The 64th Annual Ennis Bluebonnet Trails Festival sponsored by the Ennis Garden Club is April 18-19. On those days you can pick up a map at the Ennis Garden Club information booth, that's the big white tent in Pierce Park on NW Main Street downtown.

This weekend there will be more to see than just beautiful bluebonnets. Downtown Ennis will have arts and crafts, a kids' fun area, bluebonnet souvenirs for sale, food and live entertainment.
