Volunteers Make Final Push Before Election Day

No matter which candidate they identified with, it was clear volunteers across Dallas were making the final pitch for their parties leading up to Election Day.

About a dozen Democrats volunteered their time at a Hillary Clinton phone bank Sunday evening.

Julie Richey, a mother of two, said these final days and hours inspired her to encourage others.

"I think she's super qualified I think she's done her time and I want to make sure I did at least something to participate," Richey said of Hillary Clinton.

Richie also said the latest FBI announcement that Clinton committed no criminal wrongdoing was bittersweet news.

"It just makes my stomach hurt and all of these people that have watched her go through abuse with the things that Trump is getting away with," she said.

Clinton supporter Samia Anas immigrated from Pakistan and came to Sunday's phone bank hopeful to make a difference.

"The hate he's spreading is unacceptable. This is a diverse country and this country accepts them but you know he doesn't want any immigrants, refugees," Anas said of Donald Trump.

Meanwhile over at the Dallas County Republican Party, Young Republicans volunteered their time, where immigrant Sam Chen said he's confident with Trump's stance on immigration.

"Donald Trump said it was not fair for illegal immigrants to cut in front of the line of legal immigrants because they have paid a lot of dues," Chen said.  "I know that line may not have struck for millions of Americans, but for me it certainly resonated with me very deeply."

Issues that are now up to the voter to decide, something each and every one of the volunteers takes seriously as we wind down to Election Day.

"Everyone needs to let their voice be heard and and we just pray for the best," Chen said.

As a reminder, voters are only allowed to vote at their assigned precinct on Election Day. Find your precinct location here. Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday.
