The mother accused of abandoning her eight children appeared in courty Friday morning in Dallas regarding the custody of her children.
The judge ordered the children of Taniah Peoples to remain in foster care for now. The children, ages 2-12, are currently in three different foster homes.
Peoples didn’t have a word to say to her kids, about her kids, even whether she loves her kids, as she walked out of juvenile court.
Investigators with Child Protective Services told the judge that Peoples doesn’t have a stable home where the children can live.
There is a relative who lives in Florida. CPS investigators will do a home study to decide whether all eight could possibly live in that home temporarily. The goal is to reunite Peoples with her children but changes need to be made, including going through alcohol and drug counseling and competing parenting classes. She can have supervised visits with the children.
Two women from Peoples' church dropped the kids off at an Oak Cliff fire station last month. They reported seeing the mother of eight leaving the kids in the middle of the night and she never came back.
Peoples claims she made arrangements for someone to watch the children so she could hang out with friends.

Peoples’ oldest child, her 12-year-old daughter, told CPS that her mom often left her in charge of her seven younger brothers and sisters, but this time the mother had been gone much longer than normal.
CPS said all eight children have the same father. He lives out of state and reportedly agrees to the temporary custody arrangements.
Peoples is set to be back in court June 24 for a status hearing.
