Earthquake Reported Near Farmers Branch

A magnitude-2.4 earthquake was recorded Wednesday evening near Farmers Branch, according to the United States Geological Survey.

The earthquake was reported at 8:55 p.m. approximately two miles south-southwest of Farmers Branch and five miles northeast of Irving.

It was the second earthquake recorded in North Texas in the past week.

Saturday night, a magnitude-2.3 earthquake was felt at the University of Dallas campus northeast of Irving.

Police have had no reports of damage or injuries after either quake.

Seismologists have said dozens of small quakes rattling North Texas in recent months were concentrated along a narrow two-mile subsurface fault.

Officials are still trying to figure out what's been causing the earthquakes.
