Dallas County Sheriff's Office Investigating Duncanville Officer-Involved Shooting

Officer not injured in shooting, sheriff's department confirms

The Dallas County Sheriff's Department is investigating an officer-involved shooting Tuesday afternoon with a man who told Duncanville police he had warrants and wasn't going back to jail.

The shooting was reported near the intersection of W. Camp Wisdom and Clark roads, just south of the Texas 161/Interstate 20 interchange, where Duncanville police officers were called at about 1:15 p.m. to investigate a suspicious person.

Duncanville officers arrived and confronted the man who told them he had warrants for his arrest and that he wasn't going back to jail. The man then began rifling through a bag and, according to police, making "aggressive movements with his hand in the bag," while refusing to display his hands.

Duncanville police fired on the man, striking him an unknown number of times. Police then gave the man first aid prior to his being transported to Methodist Medical Center in Dallas.

The man is in stable condition with injuries that are not life threatening, police said.
