Austin police say a man faces drunken driving and evading arrest charges after his car crashed through a fence outside the Texas Capitol.
Police early Wednesday tried to stop the vehicle for a traffic violation. The driver sped away.
A Texas Department of Public Safety trooper then stopped the car, but the vehicle took off again and hit the fence and a tree. The driver ran, leaving a female passenger behind.
The suspect was caught a few blocks away. DPS says 26-year-old Marcus Reynosa was taken to a hospital with injuries not believed to be life-threatening. He's facing charges of felony evading in a motor vehicle, DWI and failure to stop and render aid.
The woman with him was taken to a hospital to be checked, as a precaution.
