Drunken Driving Involved in 3-Car Crash on Bush Turnpike: DPS

Texas State Troopers suspect drunken driving was behind a wrong-way crash that sent two people to the hospital early Monday morning.[[382663541,R]]

A preliminary investigation revealed the driver of a GMC Yukon entered the President George Bush Turnpike using the Marsh Lane exit ramp at about 3:20 a.m., said Lonny Haschel, DPS spokesman.

The Yukon headed east for about a half mile until it collided with a westbound Chevrolet Impala. Soon after, a westbound Toyota Camry struck the Impala from behind. The driver of the Toyota was was taken to a nearby hospital but was not seriously hurt.

Haschel said the drivers in both the Yukon and Impala were suspected of being intoxicatedf at the time of the crash.

The driver of the Yukon, who was not identified, was not hurt and was taken to the Denton County Jail. The driver in the Impala was taken to a hospital with injuries that were not serious.

The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
