Double-Murder Suspect Arrested After Standoff With Police

Arlington SWAT officers arrested a man Thursday suspected in a double-murder last year.

Christian Edwards, 25, surrendered following an hours-long standoff with police at the Crest Oasis Apartments near State Highway 360 and FAA Boulevard in far East Fort Worth, police said.

Arlington officers had gone there to arrest him when they say he grabbed a rifle.

Edwards was wanted in connection with the Oct. 27, 2016, murders of Jordyn Clemons, 20, and Johnathon Phillips, 25, in the 1000 block of Benge Drive near the University of Texas at Arlington. Both victims had been shot to death.

Police said the murders were drug-related.
